She spent her childhood at a number of military bases across Europe and North America due to her father’s work with the U.S. Defense Department. In 1980, she was diagnosed with a serious heart condition that lasted for three years before doctors were able to perform successful surgery on it. Following this ordeal, she attended high school in Bel Air, Los Angeles where she became interested in acting and pursued a degree in drama from Los Angeles Pierce College.
Lewinsky attended Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon for one semester but dropped out after only six months in 1993 without telling her father or mother about it because she had been doing poorly academically and financially. She moved back east to attend Boston University where she met former president Bill Clinton at a White House function when he was serving his second term as president. They began an affair that lasted from 1995-1997 when they both worked at the White House and was discovered by Clinton’s wife Hillary during their time together as interns on Capitol Hill in 1995.
